COVID-19: Finance ministry asks states to vaccinate staff of banks,insurance cos on priority basis


 

This Friday the finance ministry asked the state governments to make as a priority for employees of bank and insurance companies for Covid-19 vaccination,owing that they are highly exposed to risk during their working hours.

Secretary Debasish Panda, in the department of financial services addressed in the letter forwarded to the Chief secretaries of states and union territories states that the government should consider the dispensation of this vaccines as a priority to banks, payment systems, insurance companies, other financial service providers and business correspondents.

He further mentioned that, prioritizing the vaccination of employees of banks and other financial service providers will reduce their high exposure to risk in delivering their services to the public.

Some of the offices of banks and branches have occasionally been ordered by the federal and state government Enforcement authorities during banking hours which was accompanied by threats.

Panda also informed the chief secretaries to instruct district administration and local authorities too cooperate with banks and other financial service employees to provide sufficient and adequate security to them and not imposing functioning or movement.
